Learn the complete workflow of large-format printing using Roland TrueVIS printers (SG2-540, VG3-640, SG-540). This course teaches media loading, print profiles, trimming, sticker production, banners, lamination basics, window and wall installations, and real production finishing. Students will practice blade selection, grommeting, safe trimming, and full sign shop workflows. The course ends with a hands-on certification test.

Day 01

Printer Setup, Basics, Finishing/Cutting & Maintenance (4 Hours)

What You’ll Learn

    • Large-format printer safety & operation
    • Media types: vinyl, banner, poster paper, window perf
    • Loading, aligning, and stabilizing material
    • Pinch roller setup, clamps, vacuum levels, feed calibration
    • Preparing artwork in VersaWorks
    • Setting correct media/color profiles
    • Poster printing: bleed, crop marks, margin marks
    • Cutting techniques
    • Rotary vs. straight-blade
    • Crop-mark trimming
    • Safe cutting posture
    • Printer maintenance: swabs, wipers, solution, waste bottle
    • Completing a printed and trimmed poster
    • Grommets & reinforcement

Day 02

Stickers, Decals, Banners & Blade Selection (4 Hrs)

    • Contour-cut sticker workflow (TrueVIS + GS-24)
    • Sticker sheet layout, kiss-cut vs. perf-cut
    • Poster printing on various media
    • Color management basics
    • Blade selection:
    • 45° – standard vinyl
    • 60° – glitter/chrome/thick vinyl
    • Deep-cut – magnetic sheets, heavy films
    • Blade offset settings & wear indicators
    • Running multi-copy production jobs
    • Completing a sticker sheet or small banner

Day 03

Installation Techniques & Finishing (4 hrs)
