Learn how to design, cut, weed, and install vinyl using professional cutters such as the Roland CAMM-1 GS-24. This course teaches students how to prepare vector artwork, set up cut paths, adjust blade depth and pressure, and work with a variety of vinyl types. Students will practice weeding techniques, heat transfers for shirts, and adhesive vinyl installs on windows, walls, cups, tumblers, and signage. This class also covers blade selection, application tape usage, and real installation workflows.

Day 01

Vinyl Cutting Fundamentals (3 Hours)

What You’ll Learn

  • Vinyl cutter safety, setup, and operation
  • Preparing artwork in Adobe Illustrator
  • Creating cut paths and exporting through CutStudio
  • Loading vinyl rolls and sheets correctly
  • Blade selection and use
     45° blade for standard vinyl and HTV
     60° blade for glitter, flock, chrome, reflective, thicker films

Day 02

Weeding & Application Techniques (3 Hours)

  • Proper weeding techniques for small and large design
  • Layering multi-color vinyl designsApplying HTV to shirts using a heat press
  • Using transfer tape for adhesive vinyl
  • Vinyl installation techniques
     Applying decals to windows inside and outside
     Wall vinyl application using dry and wet installs
     Curved-surface installs for cups and tumblers
  • Bubble removal and squeegee technique
  • Completing a vinyl project

Day 03

Review & Certification Test (3 Hrs)

What You’ll do

  • Review full workflow from design to installation
  • Open Q&A and troubleshooting common issues
  • Prepare artwork and cut paths correctly
  • Choose the correct blade and vinyl type for the project
  • Cut and weed a multi-part vinyl design
  • Install adhesive vinyl onto a smooth surface
  • Press HTV onto a garment using proper heat settings
  • Demonstrate safe operation, accuracy, and workflow
  • Submit final projects for evaluation
